    Yonge Street Parking Lot Construction

Upper Canada is committed to bringing the brands you love closer to home and facilitating a community-centric space for all. As part of our dedication to our community, we seek to enhance our infrastructure and are working alongside the Region to provide easier traffic flow and accessibility to the shopping centre. There are many parking lots and entrances available to people who look to us as a recreational and shopping destination and our guests’ visit is our top priority. While this project is a brief inconvenience for guests, we guarantee the eventual benefit in the foreseeable future.

York Region is widening Yonge Street adjacent to Upper Canada Mall’s Entrance Three for improved traffic flow off Yonge Street.

In order to do this, storm water management is necessary and the former 2x storm ponds have been consolidated into 1 pond and associated underground infrastructure has been updated.

Beginning June 2023, Phase 2 of this 3-Phase project will begin. Construction is expected to conclude October 2023.

This work is anticipated to follow the below timelines:

    June 1-July 7
    Stage 1
Construction commences and mall access at Yonge Street will be closed. Construction includes final curbing, asphalt top-coat with parking stall striping, parking lot extension into former North pond, grading of current main intersection, and final grading and seeding of grass areas.

    July 7-September 5
    Stage 2A
The main intersection off of Yonge Street will be closed for 4o days. Current ring road will continue to be available during this time.

    September 5-September 13
    Stage 2B
Closure of small ring road directly at Sportchek. Traffic will be re-routed through Ashley’s Home parking lot as new main ring road will be open. Construction team will be grading and finishing section of ring road to connect properly with new Yonge Street main entrance.

    September 14-October 1
    Stage 3
Closures of sections of parking/roads to be done in phases. Final paving of East Lot
