Together with York Pride, Upper Canada and Hillcrest Mall will be celebrating the region’s 2SLGBTQ+ community through a series of interactive and family-friendly events throughout the month of June.
The goal of these events is to highlight positivity and community while recognizing York Region’s diversity and 2SLGBTQ+ population through family-centric activities and celebrations. Event celebrations include face painting, button making, and fun interactive photo opportunities!
There are many ways to participate and fun prizes to be won!

York Pride is one of the biggest regional prides in Ontario. They continue to celebrate the power and beauty of diversity in one of Canada’s most vibrant and growing regions. Their mission is to organize 2SLGBTQ+ Pride initiatives through arts & culture to promote equity / inclusivity, reduce homophobia, improve health / wellbeing, create safe social opportunities, engendering self-esteem & community engagement, within York Region.

Opening Ceremonies - Sparkling Night
Location: Riverwalk Commons

York Pride is moving to a two-day festival in Newmarket!
It’s all lights & love that’ll brighten up the night sky. Get your sparkle on in Newmarket’s historic downtown. Immerse yourself in elevated performances that will keep you energized for the entire weekend. Starting Friday, June 16th, celebrate with a mash-up of young emerging artists + your go-to favourite artists. You can expect wild & expressive dance, stunning solos + duos, bands, and of course mega amounts of drag.

York Pride Parade
Location: Main Street Newmarket – from Ontario St to Water St
Date: Saturday June 17, 2023
Time: 3pm
Pride Parade returns to Main Street in celebration of 10 years of the York Pride Parade and 23 years of Pride events in York Region. This dazzling display of 2SLGBTQ+ brilliance showcases the beauty and strength in pride and self-expression, as we continue to show what community truly looks like.
As the biggest event of the York Pride Festival, all eyes will be on our 2,500 marchers as over 50 floats and groups take over Main Street. Expect all your Parade favourites, from the famous rumble of the motor bikes to the quintessential community groups, and the many wonders of our 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
Watch this year’s theme “Sharing our Stories” come to life from new viewing areas on the street or our premium viewing spaces with our partners– as bigger floats, live music and bubbles elevate the spectacle that is the Parade, along the entire revamped route from Ontario St to Water St.

Closing Ceremonies

Time: 12pm-midnight
This year we’re extending the celebration of fun all around. Prepare for an action-packed weekend. We’ve got tones of programming planned for Saturday which includes the Pride on Riverwalk Concert, Pride Parade and Closing Ceremonies.
We’ve also searched far and wide to bring you some of the most creative street market vendors, where you may have a hard time just buying one item. From Glitter Bar to make up craze, candles and more, right to a tasty scoop of ice cream; we’ve got you covered! Don’t forget to check out the York Pride Parade happening the same day starting at 3 PM on Main Street.
