The New Thanksgiving: Gather, Give & Celebrate at Upper Canada
Open Today
The new Thanksgiving starts before anyone sits down at the table. This fall, the mood is warm, tactile and collected: deep brown and burgundy, soft textiles, natural greenery and unexpected objects that make home feel a little richer and more inviting. Instead of decorating for one weekend, choose pieces that carry the feeling of fall from September through November.
A modern Thanksgiving host gift is thoughtful, easy to enjoy and just indulgent enough to feel special. Skip anything that creates more work for the person hosting. Fresh flowers, Canadian self-care, a beauty favourite or beautifully packaged chocolate all say thank you without adding another task to the Thanksgiving to-do list.
Thanksgiving abundance doesn’t stop with the turkey—the dessert table deserves its own moment. Chocolate makes an easy addition: put out a generous assortment with coffee, mix familiar Canadian favourites with something locally made and give even store-bought sweets a little ceremony with beautiful serveware.
The new Thanksgiving doesn’t end when the plates are cleared. Coffee, conversation and something everyone can join give guests a reason to stay a little longer.
Clear a little space on the table, make another pot of coffee and bring out something everyone can join. Games, puzzles and conversation starters can turn those quieter hours after dinner into some of the best moments of the weekend.
